Hi! So I am not 13 weeks pregnant at the time I am writing this so what I will be talking about is a little delayed. BUT I want this separate post so I can talk about finishing out the first trimester with twins!
Symptoms:
I am going to start of with recapping a little about my first pregnancy with my daughter Aria. With my first pregnancy I was VERY sick, pretty much from week 9-delivery. With that pregnancy though we only went in once a month for the first 2 trimester, I was also super new to pregnancy and anything about it so I never got on Zofran and that was something I knew for sure I would ask about immediately this pregnancy.
With the first trimester the things I got asked the most is how am I feeling? Am I getting morning sickness? And the BIG one, how does it compare to my first pregnancy?
Like I just mentioned, this pregnancy I got on nausea medicine as quick as possible, this was a game changer for me. I was still super sick and throwing up almost every day but it was to be expected with so many hormones running through my body. Comparing to my first pregnancy it is about the same, but I do not want to imagine what this would have been like without the medication.
There are many other symptoms in the first trimester and a lot of what I have gone through is very similar to a singleton pregnancy, exhaustion being the big one. There are a couple of things I have experienced that are unique(or early) for this twin pregnancy. I had really bad round ligament pain and stretching that started as early as 11 weeks, which was a little scare because with Aria's pregnancy I didn't notice these types of pains until middle of the second trimester.
Appointments:
With the first trimester of twins, I still only was seen once a month just like a Singleton pregnancy. So I only had one more appointment and that was at 10 weeks. This appointment we didn't find out anything new, so that is a little uneventful (look for my next couple posts there will be a lot more in the realm of updates). One really cool thing is we still got another ultrasound so we got to see these babies again! It is crazy to realize how much they grow at such an early stage.
All we know at this 13 week stage is that there are two babies, growing perfectly in-sync with each other, not sure if they are in one or two sacs yet or if they have one or two placentas.
Read my next post! It has all these updates and it is a very exciting time for us!
